1. POLICY STATEMENT

Master Talent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

The welfare of the child is paramount.

Master Talent recognises its responsibility to provide a safe, respectful and professional environment for all children and young people with whom it engages.

This policy applies to:

  • Players under the age of 18

  • Parents and guardians

  • Football clubs

  • Scouts

  • Coaches

  • Contractors

  • Third parties acting on behalf of Master Talent

Master Talent operates in accordance with:

  • FIFA Football Agent Regulations

  • The Football Association Football Agent Regulations

  • Children Act 1989

  • Children Act 2004

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Data Protection Act 2018

  • UK GDPR

2. PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to:

  • Protect children and young people from harm

  • Promote a safe football environment

  • Ensure appropriate conduct by all persons associated with Master Talent

  • Establish procedures for responding to safeguarding concerns

  • Support parents and guardians

  • Ensure compliance with football governing body requirements

 
3. DEFINITIONS

Child

A child is any person under the age of 18 years.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding means protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm while promoting their welfare and development.

Child Protection

Child protection refers to specific activities undertaken to protect children who are suffering, or are at risk of suffering, significant harm.

 
4. PRINCIPLES

Master Talent will:

  • Place the welfare of children first

  • Treat all children equally and with respect

  • Promote a safe and positive environment

  • Listen to children and take concerns seriously

  • Work in partnership with parents and guardians

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times

  • Report safeguarding concerns appropriately

 
5. CODE OF CONDUCT

All interactions with children must be:

  • Professional

  • Respectful

  • Transparent

  • Appropriate

Individuals acting on behalf of Master Talent must not:

  • Engage in inappropriate relationships

  • Use abusive language

  • Discriminate against any child

  • Meet children in secret locations

  • Communicate inappropriately through social media

  • Request inappropriate photographs or content

  • Place themselves in situations that may give rise to safeguarding concerns

 
6. COMMUNICATION WITH MINORS

Master Talent recognises the importance of parental involvement.

Where a player is under the age of 18:

  • Parents or guardians should be copied into important communications whenever appropriate.

  • Parents may attend meetings and consultations.

  • Communication methods must remain professional and football-related.

  • Communications should be recorded where appropriate.

Master Talent will not knowingly circumvent parental involvement.

 
7. MEETINGS WITH PLAYERS

Where possible:

  • Meetings should occur in professional environments.

  • Parents or guardians should be informed.

  • Meetings with minors should not occur in private residential settings.

  • Appropriate records should be maintained.

 
8. SOCIAL MEDIA

Master Talent acknowledges the role of social media within football.

Any communication through social media must:

  • Remain professional

  • Relate to football matters

  • Respect privacy

  • Avoid inappropriate familiarity

Players should never be pressured to share content or engage with social media activity.

 
9. PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEO

Master Talent will only use photographs, video footage or player media where appropriate consent has been obtained.

For players under 18:

  • Parent or guardian consent may be required.

  • Images must be used responsibly.

  • Personal information should not be unnecessarily disclosed.

 
10. RECOGNISING ABUSE

Abuse may include:

  • Physical abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Sexual abuse

  • Neglect

  • Bullying

  • Online abuse

  • Financial exploitation

Safeguarding concerns may arise from:

  • Behavioural changes

  • Injuries

  • Disclosures by a child

  • Information provided by third parties

 
11. REPORTING CONCERNS

Any safeguarding concern should be taken seriously.

Where a child is believed to be at immediate risk of harm:

  • Emergency services should be contacted immediately.

  • Appropriate safeguarding authorities should be informed.

Where concerns do not present an immediate danger:

  • Concerns should be documented.

  • Appropriate advice should be sought.

  • Relevant football authorities may be notified where appropriate.

 
12. CONFIDENTIALITY

Safeguarding information will be handled sensitively.

Information will only be shared where:

  • There is a safeguarding concern

  • Disclosure is required by law

  • Disclosure is necessary to protect a child

 
13. DATA PROTECTION

Personal information relating to children and families will be processed in accordance with:

  • UK GDPR

  • Data Protection Act 2018

  • Master Talent Privacy Notice

Information will only be retained for as long as necessary.

 
14. COMPLAINTS

Any safeguarding-related complaint may be submitted to:

Complaints will be investigated fairly, promptly and confidentially.

 
15. POLICY REVIEW

This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if:

  • Legislation changes

  • Regulatory requirements change

  • Operational needs require amendment
